Hi everyone; I'm new to your list and I hope you can help me out.
Our grandfather, John Leslie Barrett, was born in Hamlin Township in Jan.
1867 and he was supposedly buried in Port Allegany, Pa., Grimes District. He
was married in Dec. 1890 to Ella Justina Sherwood b. Jan. 874 - d.Nov. 1949
in Wellsville, NY - burial in Yorks Corners, town of Willing, NY.
They had 9 children and all but 2 were born in PA. Port Allegany, Open
Brook, Marvindale, Kasson & Seargent Township respectively.
They used nicknames rather than their given names and we recently found out
that our fathers name was John Leslie also instead of Leslie John.
Our great grandfathers name was James from Ireland married to Nora? from NY.
We believe that James may have been in Company H during the Civil War later
transferring to the Veterans Reserve.
If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx.
Gladys B.
