On a recent visit to PA, I also looked for criminal records of a "colorful"
ancestor. I checked several counties by visiting each Clerk of Courts at
the local courthouses. They all seemed to have handwritten "logs" that were
searchable by date/name. I believe they were Russell indexed.

Subject: [PA-LAC] PA State & County Criminal Records - Question for List

obtain old criminal records (either PA state or Lackawanna county) which
would be in respect of before 1947?

public" at all? Or has anyone used any websites from which I could obtain
these (for a fee of course). The difficulty I have is that I am trying to
find this information out from London, England!

months ago, but I did not pay attention at the time! Since then, I now I
find that one of my direct ancestors had a bit of a "colorful" past to put
it mildly! The person in question is long deceased - I don't know whether
this makes any difference as to the release of information.
