It's my understanding that there were two (2) cemeteries in Carbondale.
I don't know the streets in Carbondale but I know how to get to the
cemeteries. One cemetery you need to drive up a steep hill and the
cemetery is next to a park. The other cemetery is on the road that comes
from Simpson and the cemetery would be on your right. I think a
hardware store use to be on the corner where the stop sign is. I was
told that this cemetery ( near the corner) the grave stones were
bulldozed to the rear and the cemetery is now a playground, the bodies
are still buried there and someone took the stones. What I am trying to
find out is if someone was buried in the St Rose Cemetery in 1903 what
cemetery would they be in. I have walked the cemetery up on the hill and
was unable to find the family gravestone. I'm surprised that St Rose or
somebody would not have a list of somekind. Does anyone know what hours
the caretaker is at the cemetery during spring or summer?
