Yes, the FHC has the same film as the Library, the source being entitled
records of the Board of Health, City of Scranton. They are arranged in
somewhat chronological order. Even with the index information a certificate
could be hard to find, as the numbers are not always present at the top of
the page. The certificate and the index almost duplicate each other; most
of the information on the certificate is contained in the index, but it is
always better to go to the original document (the certificate) in case a
transcription error was made. If you are expecting to find parent's names,
however, you may be disappointed as that information is usually not provided
except when the deceased was under 18 years of age. The key is "usually" as
they did on ocassion give that information for an adult even though it
wasn't required.
The county records, which generally do not cover the city, are only from
1893 to 1905, and arer also available from the FHC.
