Subject: [PA-LAC] MCGUIRE - BURKE Wedding in Scranton Pennsylvania
Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 16:37:32 EST
I have information on the marriage of my great-grandparents Michael Francis
MCGUIRE and Theresa BURKE, both of whom were born in Scranton Pennsylvania.
The marriage took place on Wednesday, August 28, 1901 at Holy Rosary R.C.
Church on Williams Street in the Providence section of Scranton.

McGuire - Burke
Holy Rosary Church was the scene of a pretty church wedding yesterday
afternoon at 4 o'clock, when Miss Theresa Burke became the bride of Mr.
Michael McGuire. Rev. J. V. Moylan was the officiating clergy.
As the bridal party entered the church, Miss Libbie Neary rendered
Lohengrin's March. Mendelssohn's was played as a recessional.
Miss Mary Peel, a cousin of the of the bride, was bridesmaid, and Mr. Peter
Gilhooley best man. After the wedding ceremony a reception was held at the
home of the bride's mother, on Laurel street. Mr. & Mrs. McGuire left on an
evening train for Buffalo. They will be gone about two weeks and will, on
their return, reside on Laurel street.

Note:
Parents of the groom are Patrick & Ellen MCGUIRE, both of whom emigrated from
Ireland about 1865. I am almost positive they married in Ireland before
emigrating.
Parents of the bride are Albert BURKE & Mary FARRELL. Not sure where they
were born. I have conflicting information on Albert from different censuses
-- one says he was born in Pennsylvania and one says he was born in Ireland.
Mary FARRELL was born somewhere in New York to William FARRELL, who emigrated
from Ireland. Don't know who Mary FARRELL's mother is.
Some surnames connected to the MCGUIRE/BURKE line are: MCGUIRE, BURKE,
FARRELL, PEEL, MORAN, DAVITT, JUDGE, MURRY, LEDVAK, SAKSA, BARTEK, KOVALY,
CHUDY, HUDY, HUDI, SEKERAK, HOWEY, MURPHY, O'BRIEN, MILLER
Any connections, anyone?
Take care,
Jamie O'Brien
