Joe,
Try contacting St. Rose Catholic Church in Carbondale whom is
caretaker of St. Rose cemetery. Their records start at 1914 even though
the cemetery goes back to the middle 1800's but they might list a family
plot which would obviously still exist.
Contact the Carbondale Historical society to do a look up of the
Polk City directories at the Library next door to them. The directories
on the library shelf start at 1914 but they have the older ones hidden
behind the front desk for protection.
Contact the County of Lackawanna in Scranton for a death
certificate since you believe he died before 1906.
I believe all the mentioned resources have addresses on the
Lackawanna site.
Good Luck,
Ken Maxwell

I am having a tough time finding my great grandfather's obit or even
date of death. Suggestions are appreciated. His name is Patrick
Callahan (CAllaghan) and he died between 1901 and 1903 and I have tried
all possible sources but no luck. He died in Carbondale PA and left a
widow, my great grandmother, Catherine O'Neill Callahan and they lived
at 190 Belmont St. Any suggestions deeply appreciate. Any Carbondale
researchers monitoring? Thank. Joe Callahan in North Dakota.
