Subject: [PA-LAC] New posting of 18509 census data
Date: Wed, 25 Sep 2002 08:49:24 +0800
Hello all
The transcriptions of Fell & Jefferson Townships in (then Luzerne)
northern Lackawanna County for the 1850 US census have been posted
on the website (URL at the end of the message). There are now
more than 51,000 records for the 1850 census from the northeastern
Pennsylvania area posted.
Part of the web site attempts to connect the families found in the
census records to "real" family history. If you find some of your
ancestors in the census records of the site - please consider sharing
a couple of generations of family lineage data. Sources are
acknowledged.
http://www.dsdata.com.au/genealogy/nepa/census1850xref.html
contains a summary of this project so far.
Additionally families are traced between census years (where the data
is included on the site) with a link included on the census pages.
Lastly, the volume of names is beginning to make the use of the index
pages - well awkward - at least from my point of view. A good example
would be the SMITH surname. If you have suggestions on how the index
might be better presented - I would appreciate getting an email from
you (outside the list).
Enjoy.
Fred
