Although Carbondale was the largest city in the northern part of (then)
Luzerne County in the 1850's and early 60's; to the best of my knowledge it
apparently did not receive a city directory until the 1880's. The earliest
surviving directory appears to be 1892, and is on-line as an 1890 census
substitute. [Genealogy.com??
or Ancestry.com??]
