joan: In reply to your question as to why I want to know about land grants,
my reasons are sort of like groping around in the dark.

You see, there were more than one JACOB HUBLERs in eastern Pennsylvania
during the Revolutionary War and I'm still trying to sort out which one was
mine.

My JACOB HUBLER (1751-1822) is buried in Aaronsburg, CENTRE CO Pa. with one
of those Rev. War. markers.

I know this is my Jacob because of his will listing his son GEORGE etc. Now
my JACOB HUBLER owned a great deal of land, (I photocopied about 150 papers
from his estate at the Historical Soc. in Bellefonte Pa and have not yet
sorted them out) and I assume the JACOB HUBLER who owned land in Ferguson,
Haines, and Potter Twp, CENTRE CO Pa. are my same JACOB HUBLER (1751-1822).

JACOB HUBLER (and I assume this is mine 1751-1822) left Potter Twp during
the "great runaway" (from indian raids) about 1777 and returned with other
settlers about 1784.

Different books list JACOB HUBLER as serving either with the 9th BATTALION,
LANCASTER CO. MILITIA or the BERKS CO. MILITIA. I assume one is my JACOB
(1751-1822) and the other is one of those other pesky JACOB HUBLERs running
around Pennsylvania in the late 1700's just to mix me up.

Sooooo, I was hoping that land grants might mention my JACOB HUBLER and
give me a little more information in my hopes to sort out which Jacob was
mine.

However, I see by your note that the bounty lands were exclusively located
in the far western counties. So I guess that rules out JACOB HUBLER.

Which gives me another reason for looking at land grants. JOHN GIBSON
(1762-1835)(bro of my ancestor COL.GEORGE GIBSON) served in the Rev. War
but died in Pittsburgh. So I was wondering if he got a land grant.

I think i've rambled a great deal, but that was what was on my mind when i
saw the LAND GRANT message..
