I have been unable to find the maiden name of my gggrandmother Elizabeth
b 27 Oct 1806 (birth date from family bible which does't give her maiden
name). She was the wife of Henry Frank of Lancaster or Mt Joy Twp (The
family was from Lancaster town; I am not sure when he moved to the
country). Later they lived in Elizabethtown and their first child was
Henry Jr b 17 Aug 1827.

Elizabeth was born too late to be in the PA births lists. I cannot find
the marriage anywhere. But I do have:

Frank, Henrich and Lydia Merk, 20 Sep 1825, Tabor First Reformed Church,
Lebanon, PA.

This is the right time for them to be getting married but I never took
it very seriously because I didn't see how Elizabeth (and there is no
doubt that my Henry Frank's wife's name was Elizabeth, it is recorded in
numerous places) could get written down as Lydia. It has rcently been
pointed out to me that if she was called Liddy or Libby or Lizzie it
might easily have happened.

So, my question is: are there any MERK researchers out there? Do you
have a Lydia or an Elizabeth the right age, or even any other MERKs in
this church or this area? If the lady getting married really was Lydia
it was probably another Henry Frank (I know there were others) but I
would like to know one way or the other.

TIA,

Jan
