I have a Robert Tweed born 1703, and died 1767 in Lancaster, Co., PA. His
wife was Agnes. I do not know if Robert is first generation or second
generation in America. I have reason to believe that he may have come from
Antrim, Ireland. I found records at a Carncastle Parish Churchyard in an
old Scotch/Irish book for Ireland. Listed under the name Tweed were the
names Caldwell, Wilson, Young, Wharry. My Tweeds are intermarried with these
people and are together through out each others wills, IN WA Co., Lancaster,
Co, Northumberland Co., Chester, Co, Ohio, and W. VA. I have only been
doing genealogy for a few months, so I understand there is an awful lot that
I need to learn. But sometimes it sure does get confusing. Was it the
custom for families to keep intermarrying among themselves and why did they
keep using the same first names over and over? I bet I do not have more
than seven or eight male names and about the same amount for the ladies. If
anyone out there is working on this family tree or have any information that
might help, I sure would appreciate it.
Elaine
