Subject: [PALANCAS-L] "Harrison Moyer" Electrocuted in 1923
Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 11:41:34 EST

Hi,
I thought I would share a bit of this article with you and if anyone is
researching this name please email me at
TWO MEN ELECTROCUTED BY HIGH TENSION WIRES:
Harrison Moyer, this City and Albert Miller, Annville, replacing insulators at
time of fatality----Moyer noticed Miller dangling from wires with sparks
dripping from body---he started to climb pole, but before he reached dead man
he met same fate---officials at a loss to account for the exact cause of the
accident.
Harrison Moyer, of 1115 Willow Street this city, and Albert Miller, of
Annville both members of a line crew of the Metropolitan-Edison Co. lost their
lives near the Narrows on Monday evening, about 6:15 o'clock, in an accident,
the details of which may never be known.

I believe the place that they mention "near the Narrows" is east of Avon
between Reading and Lebanon. The electric pole at the Narrows was on Penn
Highway.

Harrison Moyer was known to all by the name of "Dutch" Moyer. He was the son
of Monroe Moyer and Frances S. Harrison was born in 1887 in Lebanon County
and is buried in the Schaefferstown Cemetery.
I am looking for others that might be researching this line of Moyer's.

Thank You,
Lisa
