As Paul Harvey likes to say, "Here's the rest of the story". When
Berks County was created from Lancaster and Philadelphia Counties in
1752, Bethel Township was cut in two. One part went to Berks County.
The other part stayed in Lancaster County, to become part of Dauphin
in 1785, and, ultimately, when Lebanon County was created from
Dauphin in 1813, part of Lebanon County. So, when looking for church
records of people who resided in Bethel Township, Lancaster County,
search the churches in both Bethel Townships. For legal records prior
to 1785, check the Lancaster County court house.
