Let me know if this works out for you.
Many people forget about the estate settlements. They have lots of info.
In 1762 one of my ancestor's administrators paid out to a Edmund McGinnis
for a coffin; to someone else.. for 5 1/2 yd linen for a sheet (perhaps to
wrap the body in) and....for sugar, spices, liquer and other Necessarys at
Burial. Don't you love it??? They had a wake!

His (presumed) son had in his inventory, one grait (there spelling) coat,
one velvet coat, one pair britches and one pair legins. In 1735 this son,
William, had a land grant in the FRONTIER land of western Frederick Co, VA.
...nothing but animal/indian trails. Why would he drag his fancy duds with
him? Wouldn't you take an extra keg of nails or salt? I've often wondered
if he was a romantic, a man holding on to his last vestiges of civility,
perhaps second or third son out make his fortune,...or maybe he was just a
pompous dandy.
Fun to speculate.
