My ancestor was Jacob Baer/Bear/Bahr born 12 June 1758 Lancaster PA., died
28 Feb. 1837 Greene Co, PA. He was a Revolutionary War solider from
Lancaster. I believe that his parents were Isaac Bare and Elizabeth
Grabel? His son David married Susannah Ridenour/Rittenour, and I know that
the Ridenours were originally from Alsace before coming to Maryland. The
Ridenours were early settlers of Washington Co. MD and the Hagerstown area.

<I have found a baptismal record dated 1725 in the church
records of Waldersbach, Alsace for the twin daughters
of my ancestor Peter Bricker and first wife Christine,
which lists the following people as godparents. Of course,
take into account variants of names, e.g., Farny = Forney,
Farnie, Farney; Bahr = Baer, Baehr, Bear; Graf = Groff,
Graff; Schlecht = Schlechty, Schlechter, etc.
Please contact me if any of these ring bells for you.
Thanks
