Hi Barbara,
You can check the Conestoga Township History for Holly, Pequea was part
of Conestoga Twp. until 1853 or so. There is also an 1875 atlas of Pequea
Twp that might show something.
Did you mean New Danville or Danville ? There is a Danville upstate,
maybe your guy lived in Danville and then moved to Lancaster to get a better
job. That was becoming more common in the 1850s as factory jobs began
showing up and farming jobs became harder to find. I've never seen New
Danville refered to as Danville. The sign on the New Danville pike says the
town got its name from an early settler named Dan or several early settlers.
Holly isn't a name that jumps out at me as being from our area. All
that really means is that they probably haven't been in this area a long
time.
