Hi Gail,
I'm not Earnest but I am honest. : )
Most people migrated because of their desire for land and while there
was land in Lancaster County it was much cheaper on the frontier. This
probably prompted people to move there when Stark County was on the frontier
(early 1800s). Later people were attracted to Stark County because they
knew someone there who told them the land was good and while land values
rose in Stark County as the population grew, it was still cheaper than land
in Lancaster County.
It was this desire for land that propelled people across the American
continent from Philadelphia to California.
