I/you may have TWO different Daniel Lerch's. They are confusing at best.
Here is what I have in my database.
The will of Christopher Lerch of Swatara Twp (Lebanon Co. Willbook A
page 380, filed 1823, inventory filed Sept 20, 1823) mentions of wife Anna
Maria and children; George, Margaret married to Jacob Miller, John,
Christopher, Daniel, Samuel, William, Sarah, and Elizabeth.
Christian (Christopher?) Larch (Lerch) b. 11 Jan 1758, d. 4 Sep 1823 is
buried at the Jonestown Reformed Church Cem.( Source: Egle's History of
Lebanon Co., page 189). Buried here also is "Lerich, Catharine (w. of D. L.),
b. 9 May 1804; d. 5 Jul 1830". Is this possibly the first wife of Daniel
Lerch?
MARRIAGE 1: Tabor Reformed Church Records, from Pennsylvania German
Marriages, page 266. Entry reads: Lerch, Daniel, (Anna) Catharina Hauser 18
Mar 1821, wit; David Bols, Martin Heckedorn. CHILDREN of MARRIAGE 1: (1)
Thomas Lerch, bap. 1 Sept. 1823, Jonestown; (2) Amanda Lerch, bap. 14 July
1825, Jonestown; (3) Sara Lerch, bap. 25 Dec. 1827, Zion Ev. Luth. Ch.,
Jonestown.
MARRIAGE 2: Tabor Reformed Church Records, from Pennsylvania German
Marriages, page 274. Entry reads: "Lerch, Daniel, wid'r, Rebecca (MARGARET
REBECCA hw!) Skuhl (Schools/Schule), 18 Jan 1831, wit; Mary Ann Kroh".
CHILDREN of MARRIAGE 2: Rebecca Lerch, b. 8 Dec. 1831, Jonestown. Both
Margaret and Rebecca (never married) Lerch are buried at Kimmerling's in N.
Lebanon Twp. Margaret Schools was b. Upper Paxton Twp., d/o Francis and
Barbara Schools.
Margaret Schools Lerch is found in N. Lebanon Twp in the 1840 Census
along with daughter Rebecca. Maria Schools, a sister, had m. Martin Brandt of
N. Lebanon Twp. Was there a divorce? By 1850 Margaret had relocated into
Lebanon, where she lived until her death in 1892.
The death, divorce or disappearance of Daniel Lerch prior to the 1840
census is still an unsolved mystery. Is this the same Daniel Lerch, s/o
Christopher of Swatara Twp; or is it a second Daniel? Is this the same Daniel
who is buried at Shellsville, Dauphin Co.?
