Schuylkill Co
Medlar, Valentine W., postmaser of Mahanoy City, was born in
McKeansburg, Shuylkill Co, Aug 7, 1851, s/o George and Mary A. (Schirer)
Medlar.

The Medlars are of French descent, the grandfather, Daniel Medlar,
having come with his father from France when he was a boy. He first
settled in Berks Co, where he died. He was a farmer,and his family
consisted of 4 sons and 2 daughters. Valentine's father was a native of
Berks Co, and was born near Reading in the year 1819. Later he moved to
Hamilton Co., Indiana, where he did in the year1861. After the Civil war
the family returned to Lehigh Co, and after 1 year they came to
Shuylkill Co. His first wif was Rebecca Boyer, and a member of the
Reformed Ch. By Rebecca Boyer he had 13 children, 3 sons and 10
daughters. Mrs. Medlar died in 184. He married 2nd to Mary Schirer and
they had 10 children, 3 daughters and 7 sons.

Valentine W. Medlar married Mary E. Lawton, d/o Thomas and Jane Lawton
of Mahanoy City, on May 5, 1872

Medler, David-Bern twp. Proved Nov 26, 1818. Provides for wf. Catharine.
To son George, house and land I bought of John Shaffer at the
Schuylkill. To sons Joseph, Abraham and David in Bern. To daus.
Elizabeth and Catharine 1000pds each.

Medler, Catharine, widow of David-Bern twp., March 24, 1823. Adim; Peter
Adams and John Sheffer. friends, and George Medler, son. Son-in-law
Jacob Gehret renouncing.
