Amen to your sentiments. I was approached by Broderbund and happily copied my
files onto the enclosed disk. I too had spent years travelling, buying
certificates, spending hours in record offices, but I was also grateful for
any help I could get from other people who generously shared their research
and I shared mine with whoever was interested enough to ask. There is an old
adage. What goes around, comes around.
I read the request from the individual making it, asking for information on
the submitter. My belief was that he was looking for a family member in order
to expand his research. I have often responded to such enquiries, as have so
many other people. Because of the deceitful way in which the message was
transmitted, I cannot but think that individual mirrors what disgusts him in
others.
