Evening Listers!

This information came across on another list a
short while ago and I thought it was worth
repeating. Maybe it will help someone else out
as well!

Sue

As most of us knows, the LDS site is http:/
/www.familysearch.org/
When you get into this site there are several
extensions, the most useful is by just clicking
on any of the names that come up from the initial
search, this will bring up another screen with
parents for a christening and spouse for a
marriage. You can return to the list of names by
clicking the "back" icon. (Most of us have done
this at least once already!)

Once you have found an individual of interest you
note down the batch number (eg C040721) take care
to use the upper case C. (I use copy/paste) You
then return to
http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchigi.asp
and enter the family name(egsmith) the region (eg
British Isles) and the batch number. Hit search
and you will get any other person sharing the
same surname as your person, and you may well
find new and unsuspected relatives. You can
repeat the process and work outwards with a
selection of batch numbers ( eg C040720, C040719,
C040722, etc) as there may be still more
relatives in that sequence of batches.
