Subject: KLEE surname in Hazelton Pa

I have recently found records of Grace Reformed Church in Hazelton Pa
on the net and found mention of the KLEE surname there in Hazelton
back to 1853...

KLEE is my Grandmothers maiden name ...her parents were VALENTINE KLEE
br 1872 and ANNA MARIE CHRISTINA BICKING br 1871 of Oberlengsfeld
Hessen Germany.

I know they came to Hazelton from Germany back in the 1890's and lived
in Hazelton till after 1905 when they went to Butler Pa to live..but I
was unaware of KLEE's clear back in Hazelton to 1853...so I am trying
to find out info on them ...

The KLEE's that I found in the records were

HEINRICH KLEE s/o JOHANNES KLEE of Konroda Hessen Germany....he
married a MARGARETHA BOETCHER d/o HIRSCHEL BOETCHER of Sachsen-Weimar
Germany in 1866

There is another

HEINRICH KLEE that married a ANNA KATHERINE ADAM 16 Nov 1853 but that
is all I know about him and do not know if both Heinrich Klee's are
the same man and the marriage in 1866 is his 2nd marriage.

I also came across the REIS surname in those Grace Reformed CHurch
records and know that that surname is connected to the KLEE's in
Germany as it is the surname of my G-Grandfathers mother ....KATHERINA
RIES m to CONRAD KLEE

I have also the maiden name of my G-G-Grandmother's mother that I
never had befor ..... SELIGMAN ...

I understand that my G-Grandmothers grandfather ---SELIGMAN lived in
Hazelton and might have had a Hotel there at one time...he was from
Germany also...when he came to Hazelton I do not know...I do not even
know his first name...

I do know he made 6 trips from Hazelton to Germany and back and brough
her back there on his 5th trip to Germany abt 1890 to marry my
G-Grandfather Valentine KLEE..her maiden name was BICKING ....

I have a picture taken of my G-Grandmother in Hazelton with her 2 1st
cousins IDA and MARY SELIGMAN that says on the back of it she lived
with them in their hotel when she came from Germany...

The villages in Germany that all came from are
OBERLENGSFELD , SCHENKLENGSFELD ....

The village where the Hazelton KLEE's came from is KONRODE...all these
villages are right next to each other in HESSEN Germany... so I am
fairly sure they are related to one another...

Is there a Historical Society in Hazelton where I might get some info
on the family names I have?
