Subject: MONROE surname - early 1800s

Hello. I am a new member to this list, hoping to further my research on my
Luzerne County families. I am seeking information (parents, siblings,
children, records) on the following:
Nehemiah MONROE, born about 1785, married to Anna (Unknown) who was also
born about 1785.
I have located them in two census records in Luzerne County:
1810: PA: Luzerne Co., Huntington Twp, #0193675 (M252_49), page 125
1820: PA: Luzerne Co, Huntington Twp, #0181410 (M33_105) page 197
They later moved to counties along the Pennsylvania/New York border
(Allegany, NY; Bradford, PA; Steuben, NY)
On April 29, 1817, Nehemiah and Anna MUNROW sold property in Kingston Twp
that is said to have been conveyed to them on Dec. 21, 1815, by William CHURCH
who obtained the land by patent of the commonwealth. I have a copy of the
1817 land record that documents these details but not the original 1815 record.
Nehemiah and Anna are known to have had the following children:
M. Nehemiah MONROE, b. possibly July 4, 1809
Ransom MONROE, b. possibly June 6, 1816
A probable child includes:
Joseph H. MONROE, b. possibly November 1818.
Census records would appear to indicate that there were possibly other male
and female siblings.
I am aware of another MONROE family in Huntington Twp, but have been unable
to find a definite connection to them. I suspect that Nehemiah MONROE was
born in Connecticut, but this is a speculation built upon census records
provided by two of his children. Nothing is known of Anna.
I would appreciate suggestions of further areas for research in Luzerne
County and contact with anyone who might be researching these families.
Thank you in advance!
Shelly
