Hello Marion, Julie, Beverlee and Holly,

I've been reading your posts on John Clark (or several of them) and am
wondering what the sources are for the exact dates of birth, marriage and
death that you site. I'm not stating that I think they are incorrect, but in
the long period before civil registration of BMDs, such information is hard
to come by and often inaccurate, usually because it comes from a published
secondary source, not a primary source. I'm interested because I have been
compiling a large database of Luzerne Co. BMDs from a large variety of
sources. I am sure that not all of them are accurate, but because I include
the source information, others who might use the database may be able to
analyze the information in it with regard for other sources they may have at
hand to test its veracity.

I should point out that one way you might be able to distinguish more than
one person of the same name in a locality is through the county tax
assessment records.

Best wishes,

Doug Nicol
