Sharon, My Lycoming relatives were originally from Montgomery County NY.
They were three brothers George Henry EUTERMARKS b. 1837 1st m. Mary J.
2nd m. Nancy HUEY 3/30/1876 in Williamsport,Lycoming Co.PA; Simeon
EUTERMARKS b. 1839-43 m. Alice WILES in Montgomery Co. NY ;John
EUTERMARKS b.1841 m. Lucy J.R. FILBERT in Williamsport, Lycoming Co. PA.
They came because their mother's brother (their uncle) Peter HERDIC had
preceeded them and done extremely well because there was a lumber boom.
There were many sawmills in the area north of Williamsport. I would
imagine the same was true in Tioga and Steuben. There is a street called
Millionaire's Row (W.Fourth Street) in Williamsport where many people
gained and lost and regained fortunes mostly directly related to the
lumber industry. I've had the same trouble tracking these three brothers
until they actually settled in Williamsport. Check out lumbering
migration during this 15 year time period and you may find an answer.
Anyone with any information about any of these names I'd love to hear
from you. Searching HERDIC, EUTERMARKS, HUEY, FILBERT, OTTO, WILES,
MAYNARD, TAYLOR
