The building near the bowling alleys, was originally used by the US Rubber
works, prior to their moving to Connecticut in the thirties. Later it was used
by several mfg companies, including Weldons who made pj's and the Green Shoe
Factory among others.
Building on Memorial Avenue and near Avco, was a silk mill, believe the name
was Holmes Silk Mill. There was also a mill on the corner of Arch St. and
Memorial Avenue, There were no silk mills in Newberry south of Third Street..
