Dear List:
Might anyone else be researching or know anything about the following
families?
William and Mary Shorten Bateman arrived in US (with a lot of family
members) 1880 from Clonakilty, Cork, Ireland, were in Bradford (with family)
by around 1890. Lived there until their deaths in 1896 and 1895
respectively.
Their son William B. Bateman b. @1855 married Jessie/Janet Jackson who came
to US in 1876 from St. John New Brunswick with her mother (Agnes Smith
Jackson, b. Glasgow, 1832) and siblings: John F. Jackson (Architect) and
wife Lena Shaw; sister Agnes Smith Jackson; sister Helen Armstrong Smith
Hevenor, m. to Gilbert Hevenor, 1875, St. John; brothers Andrew and
Archibald. They first went to Salamanca NY then to Bradford with her husband
William after 1887.
William and Jessie/Janet Jackson BATEMAN had 5 children: Archibald, Helen,
Belle, a boy who died in infancy name unknown and, my grandmother, Mary
Olivia, b. Bradford, Oct. 1894. Their residence at the time of my
grandmotrhers birth was listed as 92 Summer Street, his occupation was
listed as Salesman.
If anyone else is researching them or has any good ideas on how I might
find out more about their lives in Bradford please contact me. Has anyone
seen their tombstones while walking through a local cemetery? I was told
some of them are buried in Wildwood Cem. in Salamanca but their names aren't
on any lists I've seen.
Thanks for any information or insight. Beth Manners
