Hi, I was born in 1943, but grew up hearing the stories about the 1942
Flood from my mother. It was devistating to the area.My grandparents lived
on the FarmersValley crossroad in McKean Co. and the Potatoe Creek changed
course from that flood, I remember as a young child my mother showing me
the old dried up river bed where it used to flow. Also the house still
had water stains on the walls which keep bleeding thru the new paper that
was put on, and my mothers Organ was ruined and they put it up in the barn.
The barn finally fell down with the Organ still upstairs in it. My mom
always looked so sad when she talked of her once beautiful organ she had
learned to play on. CK Smethport news papers in the Historical Society.
