Hello! I am coming to McKean County later this month to search for some records regarding my family, and I was hoping maybe someone would know the best way to go about it. I will be there all day July 23, a Friday, and would like to go to the courthouse. How accessible are the records there? Should I call ahead? What are the hours? Is there anything I should know before I go?

Also, it looks like the only copies of the Kane Republican are at the Kane High School Library. Is this accessible at all during the summer? Are there any indexes to this at all, like an obituary index or anything like that?

My family is mostly from the Kane area (especially Kanesholm). If anyone has any other suggested places to visit, I'd love to know about them. We're going to visit relatives and cemeteries on Saturday and Sunday, but we should still have some time to spare. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated! Thanks.
