Hello,
My name is Bruce Whealton. I should have introduced myself
earlier.
In my past Genealogy research I traced some of my ancestors to areas
such as Pamlico Co, Craven Co, and Beaufort County. It was a while back
the last time I did this, or was into the Genealogy research seriously,
until recently. Recently, I've found a new interest in genealogy and
tracing my family tree, my ancestors. Getting history is never easy,
when people and places are far away.
Anyway, about 10 years ago it was, when I last pursued the idea
of learning about my family tree and my ancestors. We came to a place
in Mesic, NC which is in Pamlico County. I think one of the counties in
this region is relatively new.
We made a visit to the Bay Creek Christian Church in Mesic, NC,
near Bayboro, I think. Since then, a number of items I had have been
lost in the fire, as it were.
I remember a book called "Kissin Cousins" that was about the Mayo
family and I think Jones. There was quite a bit of overlap with the
Whealton Genealogy. I was wondering if anyone in that area is on this
list and if you could see if there is a way for me to get a copy of that
book.
Also, does anyone have photos of the area. I have this poem I
wrote about visiting the area and coming to that church. I'd like to
illustrate it with a photo of the area and in particular of the Church
and the church cemetery (Bay Creek Christian Church). I learned that my
great-great grandfather had built that church.
Things certainly have changed in that area, or so it seems.
