John and Margaret (Strauss) Yetter, grandparents, settled in Hamilton
township later moved to Smithfield, made their home along Marshall
creek. John was a wheelwright, he died in 1863, leaving a widow and 4
children;
David (the father of Martin), John who married Jane Murray, Sarah
married Henry Miller of Smithfield and Edward who married Elizabeth and
moved to Fla. Margaret (Strauss) Yetter died in 1841.
David Yetter, was born Aug. 1811 in Smithfield township, Monroe county.
In 1836 he married Elizabeth d/o John C. and Hannah Bush. Elizabeth
(Bush) Yetter died 1887. they had 8 children. (l) Martin; (2) Andrew,
married Lizzie Walk of NJ, they moved to NY, they had one daughter,
Nellie, who married Dr. Keller of NY, they moved to the Klondike. they
had two children, Jean and Helen; (3) Anna M, born in 1840, married
Andrew Huffman of Smithfield, they had one daughter, C.Ada who married
Edward Cornelieson of Monroe County; (4) Eliza born 1841, married Isaac
LaBar of Smithfield, made their home in Port Jervis, they had one son,
Edward LaBar, and one daughter, Anna, who married William Case. and Anna
and William had a daughter, Beatrice; (5) John and (6) Samuel, twins,
born 1845, John married Caroline Trieble of Smithfield, and had 10
children, Lillie, Harry, Amzie, Anna, Florence, Grace, Stewart, Herbert,
Edna and Beulah. (6) Samuel married Lizzie Bogart of Smithfield, made
their home in Wilkes Barra, they had 10 children, Bertha, Howard,
Stanley, Amy, Flora, Harry, Charles, Archie and Edith. (7) Milton born
Aug.1849, married Amanda Wright of NY, they had 3 daughter, Minnie,
Myrtle, and Louisa, they had an adopted son Russell. (8) Emma J. born
1854 was the wife P.C. Dickerson of E. Stroudsburg.
Martin Yetter, was born May 1837 in Smithfield, he married (Feb. 4 1860)
to Maria Bartron, d/o Leonard and Rachal (Starner) Bartron. They had 9
children; (l) Rachal born Dec. 1861 married Horace Moser of Shawnee,
Monroe County; (2) Arthur,born Feb. 26, 1869;(3) Wilda born Nov. 1866,
married Lewis B. Kintner of Craig's Meadow, Monroe County, they had no
children; (4) John M. born 1869, professor at Muhlenburg College; (5)
Clara born Dec. 5. 1888 married Samul Scott, had one daughter, Iva
Scott, who was name after her grandmother Yetter. (6) Nathaniel born
Feb. 1872. (7) Emma born in Oct, 1874, married in 1893 to Samuel
Schoonover. (8) David L. born in May 1876, unmarried; (9) Van D. born in
Sept. 1878 lived in E. Stroudsburg.
