Hello!

I have a copy of the will of Mathias Scheifley (or Scheuffele), an
innkeeper who d. 1790 in Marlborough Twp, listing these children as heirs:
Jacob, Molly Johnson, George, Johan Jacob, Christina, Mathias.

I've found reference to Margaret Lehman as Mathias' wife, but I don't know
whether there were other wives.

There's a marriage record for Christina and John Buff the following year at
Falkner Swamp, and children of Mathias, Jr. baptised at Emmanuel Lutheran
Church in Pottstown between 1798 and 1812, and a Philadelphia County
divorce record for a Susanna Scheifley from George Scheifley in 1805
(married since 1801).

I have John Bernhard Scheifley of Limerick, 1791-1888 (my 4th great
grandfather) whom I believe to be the child of Mathias' son Jacob, but
can't confirm the connection. I also have many of Bernard's descendants
and would like to exchange info. His wife was Mary Barbara Gall 1791-1888.

According to census data, Bernard was born in Wuerttemburg. I don't have
an immigration date for him or any of the other Scheifleys.

I've also found the name spelled Shively, and most any other combination of
e's, i's, f's and v's that make the same Soundex class! :-/

I'd appreciate any leads and suggestions; I've checked all the Family Tree
Maker PA CD's and a number of other church records and the Montgomery
County Archives... the inventory of Mathias Scheiffley's estate is
*astounding!*

thanks in advance,

robin
