Dear List:
Would anyone happen to know when the first newspaper was printed in
Pennsylvania, and when the first obituaries were listed? I am having
difficulty finding information on my lineage from the 1700s Lehigh County,
and have been told to search the obits, yet I can't determine when the first
papers were printed, to search. I am not very good with history dates, but I
somehow recall the first newspaper being printed by Benjamin Franklin during
the 1700s, though I am not looking for confirmation. Could anyone tell me the
dates and perhaps the names of the papers from Northampton or Lehigh County.
