Artanus L. Snyder was born June 5 1864, the son of Ambrose and Emma
(Steinmetz) Snyder, born in East Allen Township. He married Sarah C.
Laubach in 1886.

Jonathan Sterner, of Whitehall, was born March 9, 1830, the son of Adam
and Mary (Yost) Sterner. He married Oct 2, 1853 to Caroline Marsteller,
she was born in Upper Saucon Township, April 19, 1830, d/o Samuel and
Sarah (Miller) Marsteller.

Lewis Sterner, the son of Adam and Mary (Yost) was born in Whitehall
township, Oct 16, 1840. He married Dec 17, 1863 to Sarah Lichtenwalner,
who was born Feb 15, 1843. D/o Charles and Eliza (Schaadt).

Oliver D. Steinmetz, of East Allen Township, Northampton County. Members
of the Steinmetz family were numbred among the pioneers of Northampton
County. He was the son of Joseph and Sarah N. (Michael) Steinmetz. He
married to Ellen Beisel, d/o Jonas Beisel of Nazareth.

Walter P. Huber, was born Aug 22, 1825 at Worman's Spring now included
in the city of Allentown, Lehigh County. He was the son of Peter Huber,
who was born in the village of Allentown.

The maternal grandfather of Peter Huber was Abraham Worman,his daughter
Anna became the wife of Peter Huber and to them were born 3 children,
Walter P. was the second in order of birth. When he was 2 years old his
mother died, after which his father married Mary Worman, a sister to
Anna.

Walter P. married in 1848 to Mary A. Ritter who was born in
Ritt4rsville, d/o Charles. She died in 1868. In 1869 he married again to
Anne R. Egge, d/o W.J. Egge.


William J. Young, of Lehigh County. He was a native of Northampton
County, and was born Aug 4, 1825 the son of John Young, a native of
Northampton County. His grandfather was Michael Young, he was of
"Scotch"-Irish decent.

John Young, a weaver, died in Seemsville at age 73. Connetted with the
Lutheran Church, he married Betsey Deschler, a native of Northampton
County, the d/o Peter. William J. was the younger of the two sons born
to his parents.

William J. married Mona Keiper in 1847 at Bethlehem. They had 6
children; Amanda J., Clara who married ___Keiffer, Jame, Oscar, Milton
J. and George W. The family were member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Heckman/Schneider/Kichline
John H. Heckman, was born Jan 18, 1833 at Easton. His father was Herman
S. a native of Easton. His grandfather was John Heckman was a native of
Dryland, Northampton County.

The genealogy of the Heckman family is as follows; John Adam Heckman was
born in Germany and came to America Sept. 1749. His son Adam, a native
of Moore Township, Northampton County, and a soldier in the Rev. He
married Elizabeth Kreider, a daughter of Conrad Kreider, of
Kreiderville, PA. Their son John, was born in Moore Township, and
married Mary Schneider.

The following is a bried account of the Schneider family, the first of
the family of whom we have much data, was a resident of Selbach,
Germany. His son, Herman, was born June 1722 and emigrated to America
May 27, 1749 arriving at Phila., Sept 30, 1749. He married Elizabeth
Diltz, d/o William of Amwell, NJ

Peter Schneider, son of Herman and Elizabeth, was born Feb 23, 1753 at
Easton, and he married Aug 27, 1780 to Susanna Kichline, arriving in
this county, Sept 21, 1742, settling at Bedminster,,Bucks County. He was
elected Col. of the PA. regiment of rifflemen, which served at the
battle of Long Island. He had proved himself in the Indian War (1763).
His daughter Susanna, married Peter Schneider, she was born May 7, 1760.
Peter and Susanna had a daughter, Mary, born Aug. 31, 1786 at Easton,
who married John Heckman. To John and Mary Heckman was born a son Herman
S. Heckman, father of John H. Heckman.

The mother of our subject (John H. Heckman) Mary, was born at Easton, a
d/o David Butz, her mother's father was John Herster, at age 17 wished
to go as a soldier in the Revolutionary War, but instead his father took
his place and died in prison. John Herster became on of the pioneer, and
leading business men in Easton.

John H. Heckman is the eldest of three children, William of Bradford
County moved to Buffalo, NY, Edmund of Easton.

John H. married in 1858 to Emma O. Tice, who was born in Easton, d/o
Alexander Tice. John H., and Emma had 3 children, Annie who died at age
15, Mary E., married William L. Yeager of Mauch Chunk, Carbon County,
and Herman S. of Buffalo, NY.

Heckman, Adam, died 2 July 1818, aged 66, Eliabeth, his wife, died March
1813 aged 80

Herster, Mary, born Aug 23, 1736, died 15 Sept 1830.

Herster, John, born 16 Oct 1758, died 25 Feb 1856, Margaret, his wife,
born 1762, died 11 Jan 1811.

John Hester, son of Andrew, 1726-76 and Anna Maria (Mary) Marsteller,
married Margaret Shnyder. Children;1. Catharine married George
Barnet,they children (Joseph, Elviar married Daniel Butz,they children,
Mary Seitz, Margaret Wilking, Ellen Andrew) Maria Tiuts, Margaret Tiuts,
Sabina O"Conner. 2. Elizabeth married Henry Eyerman, children, Capt.
John, married Anna M. Black, and they had Edward, who married Alice S.
Heller,and they children, John who married lucy E. Madxwell they had
children, Marguerite and John Jr., Elizabeth married John Tindall, and
they had a daughter, Mary Warne, 4. Mary married David Butz, they had
children, 5 sons and 4 daughter, included, Ebezena who married William
Harmony, they had children, Capt. Joseph, Retired Admiral David, Edward,
Mary Davis. 5. Joseph married M. Wagner, Daniel. Daniel, brolther of
John, son of Andrew, married Mary Simon, they had children; Catharine
who married Phillip Matts.
Andrew Hester, was 1st Sgt., in Cap't Arndt's Company at the Battle of
Long Island, taken prisoner, and he died on the "Jersey" 25 Dec 1776.
John Herster was Ensign in 2nd Bttn, Northampton, Mil, 1 May 1782.

"Kachlein", Peter (Col) born 8 Nov 1722, died 27 Nov 1789, his wife
Margaretta Umbehendin, born 2 Jan 1720 died 20 Feb. 1766, children;
Jacob who married Mary Bender, and they had children, Mary who married
James Black, and they had children, Anna M., who married Capt. John
Eyerman, and they had Edward H,, who married Alice S. Heller and they
had John, who married Lucy Evelyn Maxwell, and they had Marguerite and
John Jr.
