Hi, I did put it on the board, as a matter of fact, some lady wrote, and
she said, "are you aware that you have put Eschenbach/Aschenbach up
three different times. And I for one am sick of thiis family". Now she
was only kidding, but I do understand.
Traditon says that three Eschbach brothers cane from Switzerland before
the middle of the 18th century, and it said that the first located in
Berks County, but that two of them later located in other parts, one
supposedly in the vinicity of Millersburg, Lancaster County. Where the
other settled in unknown.
Two Andrew Eshenbachs came to America (according to PA Archives) one in
1740 the other in 1744. The former a native of Germany, came in the ship
'Friendship", landing Sept 23, 1740, and settled in Colebrook township,
Berks County where it was know in 1752 he was a tax payer. In 1759 he
was a tax payer, however he was said to have these parts. (History of

In 1737, one Peter Eschebach, and his only son, Christophel, came to
this county, on the Ship, "St Andrew". In 1752 Christophel was assessed
in Hereford township, Berks County, "Christian" is buried at the
Mennonite cemetery at Balley. He was born July, 1717 and died April 27,
1789. Children; John, Christian, Heinrich, Abraham, Peter, Martin, and
Elizabeth.
John Eschbach, born Oct. 24, 1764, died Feb 28, 1826. He married
Elizabeth Latchsaw, who was born May, 1765 and died 1844. Children;
Abraham, Peter, Christian, Henry, John, Barbara who married John Bliem,
and CAtharine who married Jacob Fox.
Christian Eschbach Jr., was born June 3, 1766 in what is now Washington
County, Berks County, and died Oct 31, 1838. He lived at Barto, PA., he
married Froene Moyer, both buried at the Mennonite graveyard, Children;
William, Henry, Jesse, Nancy the wife of Jacob Yoder, and Besty who died
single.
Henry (Heinrich) was born Jan 4, 1771 and died March 11, 1841, his wife
was Anna Moyer, and had one son, Elijah and several daughters.
Peter Eschbach, son of Christian, had sons, Christian, Isaac, William,
John and Susan.
Martin Eschbach, son of Christian, and one daughter, Jane who was the
wife of Daniel Dobb.
Elizabeth d/o Christian, died April 24, 1791, aged 19.
Abraham, son of Christian, of Upper Montgomery county. He was married
twice, first to Mary Becthel, by whom he had 4 sons, Abraham Jr.,David,
Joseph, and John. He married 2nd to Agnes Wallace, who came from
Montgomery county, and they had children; Hugh W., Robert, James,
William and Mary who married a Mr. Sterner. (Lehigh County history)
Eschenbach, Samuel, of Tobyhanna, Monroe County, subeject.
Andrew Eschenbach, grandfather, spent the greater part of his lfie near
Phila., and he was living there during the Rev. When he was an old man,
came to Monroe County. He married Susan Fink, children, David, John,
Nathaniel, Andrew, Joseph, Thomas, Samuel, Polly.
Andrew Eschenbach, father, was born near Allentown, Northampton County,
came to Tobyhanna as a young man, he married Lydia Bond, a native of
Hamilton township, a d/o Lewis and Rachael Bond. She died in 1881, aged
73. Children; Samuel A., Ann the wife of Robert WArner, Maria died in
childhood, Martha the wife of Jacob Bonsor.
Samuel A., was born in Tobyhanna, Sept 6, 1834, he married Elizabeth
Warner, d/o William and Ellen (Agen) Warner. She died March 8, 1897,
aged 54. Children; Margaret and Howard.

Eschenbach, Andrew, a Moravian Missionary arrived in New York, July 21,
1740, he left the church in 1747 and settled on a farm in Oley, and he
died in 1763.(History of Bethlhem)
