Reigel, Michael or Michel Rege or Reigal, PA Line, applied 1818 in Union
County, aged 66, soldier enlisted in Berks County. On Aug 22 1820
soldier was living in Mifflin county and he gave his age at 70 with a
wife age 66 and 1 son, Michael Jr aged 26 living at home.

Northampton County History
Riegel, Henry, H. M.D. (subject) of Catasauqua, was born in Allentown,
Lehigh county, Nov 12, 1836. Both is father, Daniel and his grandfather,
Matthias, were natives of Hellertown, Northampton County and where of
German descent. The former moved to Allentown, where he followed the
trade of a tanner and also carried on a meat markert. In 1837, he
started a hotel business at Bath, Northampton County.

Returning to Nazareth, Daniel was elected Sheriff of Northampton County
in 1855. He died at Nazareth, at age 68. He was married to Hannah
Weaver, and was born at Weaversville, she died at Bath, aged 52. Her
grandfather, John Weaver was a soldier of the Rev. Her father was
Michael Weaver, he died at aged 64. He was soldier in the War of 1812.

In Cherryville, July 3, 1858 Dr. Henry H., married Ellen J. Gish, who
was born in Berlinsville, Northampton Co. Children; Clifford H. Emma L.,
married S. B. Harte, William A., and Mattie G.


Riegel, George W., subject, was born in Washington township, NJ., on
July 1, 1842. His grandfather, Hon. Benjamin Riegel was one of the
founders of Riegelsville.

George W., married in 1864 to O. M., d/o C.W. Rauch. Children; George
W., Annie M. Members of the Moravian Church

The Riegel family is one of the oldest in Northampton County, the
great-grandfather, Benjamin, was in the War of 1812 (no pension) in the
Commissary Department, he was killed near Hellerstown on his way home
from the war, when only a 1/2 mile from home.

In tracing the line, find that the grandfather, Mathias Riegel, was born
in Lower Saucon township. He was a member of the Reformed Church, he
died at age 69. His wife's name was Mary Kram, children; John, Benjamin,
Jacob, George, Daniel, Joseph, Samuel, Elizabeth who married Issac
Boyer, Catharine, who married George Weber, Mary, married Joseph Roth,
Rebecca who married Israel Rothrock.

Joseph, the father, was born in Lower Saucon township, Northampton
county/ He married Mary Newcomer, she died in 1878, in her 68th year.
Members of the Reformed church. Children; Catharine who married
____Smith, Henry M., Martin J., Samuel P., and Charles J.

Martin J. (aka M.J.) was born Dec ll, 1835 at Hellertown, Northampton
county. On Nov 11, 1861 he married Anna L., d/o Owen W. Hess of Easton.
They had one son.

Berks County History
I. Jacob, a soldier in the War of 1812 (no pension), who married
Christina (Bohn)

II. William W., who married Mary (Lengel), they had on child.

III. J. Allen, married in 1866 to Anna Fulmer, a native of Van Reeds,
Berks county, and a faster daughter of Henry Z., and Mary A. Van Reed.
Children; Harry A.; William B.of Phila.; Charles of Phila.; Allen of
Reading; Mary, and Rosa E., a foster daughter. Member of the Reformed
Church.
