Subject, John Romig,M.D., born Jan 3, 18
04, he married in 1826 to Eliza Fogel, d/o Solomon of Fogelsville, she
died in 1826, and he married 2nd in 1830 to S. Matilda Martin, of
Allentown. Children; John, William, George M., Hannah L., who married
Joshua Hunt, Anna who married Joseph Hunt and Matilda.
I. John Adam Romig, granfather of John, was a resident of Lehigh County.
He married Hannah Kolher, of the same county. Children, Joseph, Peter,
John, Charles, William J., Judith, Rebecca, and Mary.
Subject, William J. was born June 18, 1821, he married 1st on Dec. 9,
1845 to Mary Royer, of Allentown and they had 4 children. He married 2nd
to L. Anna Matthew of Phila., Jan 2, 1855
Subject, Frederick Romig; the first of the family who settled in
Macungie, came in 1732. Children; Frederick, Adam, Jacob, Henry and
Joseph. Adam inherited the paternal homestead. His son John, born in
1769, also settled on the old homestead, and in 1817 he sold it and
moved to Allentown. Drs John and William were his sons.
Subject, Joseph L. Romig, born March 13, 1837, in Berks County, came to
Upper Milford and was selected in 1865 by the Evangelical Mennonite
congregration of Upper Milford as their pastor. He died Jan 12, 1869 age
31y 10m
John Frederick Ruhe, subject, was a native of Germany, but for 20 years
in lived in England, and was in the establishment of the king's
apothecry. He came to America in 1789, the years intervening between
that date and 1794 being spent at NYand Phila. He died here about 1836.
He married Henrietta Elizabeth Mackenroth, children; John F. (served in
the War of 1812) , married 1st to Catharine Keiper, and 2nd to Elizabeth
Kramer, and the father of 23 children, George, died in Phila., Charles
A., Catharine Elizabeth, died unmarried, Joanna Louisa, married Henry
Ebner
