Brown, George, of Mt. Joy, came to America in 1855, and first located in
Trenton, NJ. He was born in Yorkshire, England, Oct. 1831, son of
Benjamin Brown.
He (George) married in his native county to Esther Beardsell, also of
Yorkshire, England, who ded in 1873 leaving 10 children, Thomas, Walter
G., Sarah, the wife of J.B.S. Zeller, George H., Annie E., who married
Abraham K. Shelly, Lilly A., who died as a baby.
Hook, Michael, great-grandfather, came from Magnea in 1750, settled in
Lancaster county. He was the father of 4 sons and 2 daughters, Michael,
who married Mrs. Jane Thomas. Anthony, Andrew, Mary Frances, who married
Francis Zeigler and Christina who married ___ Ginther, and Ferdinand
Long, Jacob Baker, son of John Long, and brother of Charles Long, was
born on East Orange St., Lancaster, Oct 25, 1849. On June 30, 1881,he
married Ellen (Hayes) Hagar, the d/o the late Judge Hayes.
Long, John F., is the youngest son of Charles Long. John F. married June
5, 1900 to C. May Stauffer, d/o J. Newton Stauffer.
Dutt, Christian, was born Feb. 14, 1818, and died April 8, 1891. He was
s/o George and Elizabeth (Erb) Dutt, the former of Penn township,
Lancaster county.
Christian Dutt was twice married, lst to Sarah Fulmer, died in 1850, the
mother of 1 child, Mary, who was marrried to Martin "Bolinger", a
resident of Lititz, By his 2nd wife, Catharine "Bolinger", he became the
father of 1 child, Lizzie, born Feb 19, 1865, wife of Samuel Bare of
Lititz.
Mellinger, David H., of Manor township, was born Sept 9, 1865. He comes
from one of the old families of this region, and is of German origin,
being a descendant of Ludwig Mellinger, the first of the name to locate
in this section.
John Mellinger, great-grandfather of David H., was born Feb. 1795, in
Manor township. He studies medicine with Dr. Musser. He was twice
married, his first wife bening Susan Shopf, also of Manor township, who
was born March 21, 1794 and died Sept 23, 1856, five sons were born to
this union; John S., Henry S. MD., who died in 1901, Jacob of Columbia,
David, and Benjamin who died at age 12. He married 2nd to Elizabeth
Wissler. He died Oct. 1897
David H., married May 2, 1892 to Agnes C. Mann, d/o Levi Mann.
Kreider, Christian, was born May 4, 1830,son of John Kreider. Christian
Kreider was married 3 times, 1st to Esther Bowman, d/o Rev.Henry Bowman,
in 1860 he maried Mary Huber, d/o Daniel Huber of willow Street, she
died Oct., 1863, age 39. 3rd he married in 1884 Esther Eckman, d/o Jacob
Eckman of Colerain township. She died May 20, 1899, aged 68.
Christian was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church of this townshp
Eby, Henry N,, of W. Hempfield, Lancaster county, was born Aug 16, 1837,
s/o Jonas of Veronica (Nissley) Eby, who were born in Elizabeth and
Rapho township respectively.
Jonas Eby, born March 14, 1799, died Oct 11, 1884, Veronice (Nissley)
was born June 21, 1798 and died Oct. 30,1839. Jonas Eby is buried at the
Landsville Meeting House cemetery. Children; John of Lancaster, Fanny,
the wife of Martin Peiffer, of Salunga, PA., Elias of E. Dongal, Samuel
of Mt. Joy, Simon of Mt. Joy, unmarrried, died in 1860, Henry N.
The mother and father were twice married. Dec. 19, 1819 Jonas Eby
married Veronica Nissley and Nov 12, 1863, to Martha Strickler, of
Lancaster, she was d/o Abraham Stricker of Lancaster, who married a Miss
Hostetter. Mrs. Voronica (Nissley) Eby, was 1st married to Abraham
Hoover in 1815, and there were born to them Nancy, who was twice
married, first to John Bossler, and then to Daniel Kreider.
John and Mary (Witwer) Eby, grandparnts of Henry N., . John Eby died May
25, 1845, age 77,and his wife, died Aug 25, 1856,age 83. They were
buried at the homestead. Children; Catharine, Jonas, Mary, Rebecca,
Elias who married Elizabeth Erb, Elizabeth who married Samuel Risser,
Levi who married Anna Nissley, and Anna who married Samuel Hershey.
The paternal great- grandparents of Mr. Eby were Christian and Catharine
(Bricker) Eby.
The maternal grandparent to Mr. Eby, were Bishop Samuel Nissley of Rapho
township, and Anna Mumma, of West Hempfield township. Bishop Nissley was
married 3 times, to Barbara "Greider, to Anna Mumma and to Maria
Longnecker.
Henry N., was twice married, first in 1860, in Lancaster County, to Mary
Franck, born in Warwick township, died Jan 3, 1876 age 35, and she was
buried at Landisville, she was the d/o Christian and Catherine (Snyder)
Franck. Her father was the son of Deacon John Franck. of Warwick.
Children; Daniel, died 1871, AmosF., who married Anna Reist, Fanny who
married Kate Stauffer, Anna, the wife of Elia Lindermuth. The second
marriage was Nov 6, 1878 to Elizabeth Hostetter, born to them were Henry
and Elizabeth, twins and David. Elizabeth (Hostetter) was born near
Manheim, Sept 1, 1841, d/o David and Maria (Peiffer) Hostetter, both
natives of Penn township
