Heckler/Fluck
John R. Heckler, son of Samuel Detweiler and Susan (Rosenberger)
Heckler. was born Nov 3, 1840 in Hilltown township. He taught of Fluck's
school in Hilltown ship and also taught in Monroe Co. John R., married
in 1861 to Victoria S. (Stout) Fluck, d/o Tobias and Anna (Stout) Fluck
of Hilltown. Children;1. Calvin, was born June 12, 1864, he married in
1892 to Anna Elizabeth Durner, d/o Charles F. and Mary J. (Speaker)
Durner, of Quakertown.2. Allen Henry, born 1866, married Elizabeth
Hunsburger, d/o John D., of Souderton. Children; Sallie Lorene, born
1892. Mrs. Heckler's death occurred shortyly afterwards. Mr. Heckler
married 2nd in 1894 to Kate Abele, of the city of Phila. 3. Nari
Franklin, was born Feb 4, 1873 at Hilltown, member of the Baptist
Church. He married Alberta Lorene, d/o John G. Fritz of Montgomery Co,
Children; John Franklin, born July 12, 1896.
Robert McDowell, grandson of William McDowell and son of Major McDowell.
Robert McDowell, son of Major and Mary (Henry) McDowell, was born in
Abington township, March 17, 1834. In 1869 he married Ellie Fenton, who
was born in Bucks Co., PA, Sept 2, 1850, d/o John and Rachel (Cline)
Fenton, both of whom were born in Bucks Co. Her paternaml grandparents
were John and Besty Fenton, representative of one of the old families of
this part of the state, his ancestos having settled in Bucks Co., when
PA was still numbered among the possesions of England. The first of the
name in America were of English lineage and his descendants have been
farmer and mechanics for many years.
John Fenton, Jr, father of Mrs. McDowell, was reared and married in
Bucks Co.He made his home in Hartsville. His death occurred in Edison in
1894, while his wife survives at the ripe old age of 78. Members of the
Neshaminy church. Children; Edwin; Mrs. Elizabeth Krier and Mrs.
McDowell.
Unto Mr. and Mrs. McDowell have been born two children, Mary
Lillian,died at the age of 9 months, and Fenton, born March 16, 1877,
married Louisa Morgan, d/o John Morgan and granddaughter of Miles
Morgan. The children of Fenton McDowell, Robert D., born March 10, 1892
and Martha G., born July 17, 1904.
Sheetz, George, s/o Conrad and Christina, was born at Germantown, Dec
12, 1785, and also a hatter by trade. He came to Bucks Co when a young,
he lived at Keller's Church, Bedminster for 45 years, dying Sept 17,
1863. School teacher for many years. Member of Keller Reformed Church.
He married Hester Fluck, born March 6, 1792 and died April 7, 1875.
Children; William, Edwin, Francis, Reuben F., Jacob, Eliza wife of Aaron
Flumer, Samuel F., Charles and Albert
Of the children of George and Hester (Fluck) Sheetz. William born 1812
lived in Richland, where he died Oct 19, 1888, leaving two sons and four
daughters; Francis born 1814 of Montgomery Co., died 1897 leaving two
sons, (Remandus, of Norristown and Mahlin F.); Jacob, born 1815, died
April 5, 1899, and he had (Levi G., and Lizzie Ott); Reuben F., born
1817, he died at Doylestown, he had 5 sons and 1 daughter; Edwin F.,
born 1821, died Sept 28, 1904, children (Oliver and Amanda wife of
Charles Biehn); Charles born Jan 17, 1823, died June 1, 1903, he married
Magdalena Hager, and had 8 children; Eliza married Aaron Fulmer of
Bedminster, died 1888; Samuel F., born 18128, died Aug 3, 1890 and had
three daughters. Albert F. born June 1, 1831, married 1859 to Matilda
Laubach, who was born Jan
31, 1833, in Durham township, Bucks Co, 9th and youngest child of
Frederic and Catharine (Jacoby) Laubach, of Durham, and a descendant of
Christian Laubach,who came with his father Rhinehardt Laubach came to
Bucks Co. from Germany and settled in Lower Saucon township, Northampton
Co in 1738.
Christian Laubach was a captain of a Ranging Company that saw active
service in the French and Indian War.
Frederick Laubach was the son of Urich Laubach, and grandson of Captain
Christian. He was reared in Lower Saucon and moved to Durham in 1816. He
died May 17, 1851, and his wife Catharine Jacoby born Nov 11 1791 died
Jan 8, 1862. She was d/o Peter (1759-1815) and Catharine (Trauger)
Jacoby of Durham and granddaughter of Conrad Jacoby, born 1730 and died
1795 who was one of the early settlers in Lower Milford, Bucks Co.
Albert F., and Matilda (Laubach) Sheetz, were the parents of 7 children;
Morgan, died young; Leo died 1890; Harvey, Erwin, Allen twin to Erwin,
Ellen, and one who died infancy.
