Philip, PA Line, Rejected 10676, soldier applied 5 Feb 1834, Monroe
County and he lived there at enlistment and he lived in several Township
in said County after the Rev. then moved to Monroe Co. One Mary
Christiana Transue made aff'dt 14 Nov 1834 in Northampton County, PA and
she stated she was the widow of soldier's brother (not named). Soldier's
son, Adam Transue signed p.o.a. 15 Oct 1852 in Monroe Co as 1 of the
sons of dec'd Rev.war soldier Philip Transue (other sons not named).

Bio's
Transue, A.B., of Georgetown, Wayne Co, was born in Tannersville, Feb
21, 1871, the only child of Rev. John A. and Rachel H. (Bisbing)
Transue, who were born, reared, married in that county, the birth of the
former, March 27, 1851, the latter, June 20 1851. They moved in 1877,
and they lived in Luzerne Co. The maternal grandparents of A. B., were
Henry and Sarah (Heller) Bisbing. Members of Methodist Episcopal Church.
They had a family of 12 children, 10 survived. Mrs. Transue and her twin
sister, Elizabeth, are the 3rd in order of birth
A.B. married at CarleyBrook, Wayne Co., on June 21, 1893 to Anna B.
Riefler, two children were born to them, Charles E. born Aug 12, l894
and Ralph J. born Feb 26, 1896. Mrs. Transue was born in Oregon
township, Wayne Co., Dec 27, 1872, d/o John Riefler.
Transue, John Transue, grandfather, a native of Williams Transue,
Northampton Co. and was married in that county, but in an early day,
moved to Smithfield township, Monroe Co. He and his wife are buried at
Shawnee, Monroe Co. Children; Susana, wife of William Smith, Barbara,
wife of John Smith, Abram, Margaret, wife of Peter Albert, Jacob of
Smithfield, John, of Smithfield, Lana wife of Elihu Posten, and Rachel,
wife of Henry Strunk, of Smithfield.
Abram was born 1787, in Williams township, Northampton Co., moved to
Monroe Co., In Stroud township, he married Margaret Newhart, who was
born in Lehigh Co, Nov 20, 1793, d/o Peter Newhart, and died in 1877.
Children; Elizabeth, wife of Peter Shick, William, Sarah, wife of George
Ace. Rachel, wife of David Shannon, Peter of Pocono, George, Elihu,
Moses, Anna, wife of Abram Holderman, they moved to Wyoming county.
William Transue, was born in Smithfield township, Oct 19, 1812. On Nov
9, 1840, in Pocono township, he married Anne Anglemoyer, was born Nov
20, 1821, d/o Jacob. Children; David, died at 21, Lydia, wife of Arnold
Wood, of Scranton, Sarah, wife of Temple Scott, of Wyoming county,
Louis, of Pocono, Franklin died as boy. Peter, died at age 7 and Isaac,
died as a boy.
Transue, Henry, of East Stroudsburg, Monroe Co. His grandfather, Elias
Transue was a pioneer of Smithfield twp. He left 5 sons, John, Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, Anthony,
Anthony,was born 1787 and died in 1860. Member of the Dutch Reformed Ch.
He married Catharine Brutzman, who was born in 1806. Children; Susan,
Frederick, Charles, Henry, Jacob, Caroline, Adam and Eve, twins, Hannah,
Abraham and Warren.
Henry, was born Feb 16, 1834, he married in 1872 to Elizabeth Moiser,
and after her death, he married Fannie Gardner, of Delaware Gap. By his
1st marriage he had, Carrie A., died at age 6., Samuel, died at 13mos
and Mattie. By the second, he had Edna and Clyde
Transue, Abram. grandson of Elias, being one of three brothers, John,
Philip and Elias, who cam to America/ All settling in Smithfield. John
and Philip raised large familes, the former having 6 children, John,
Abram, Jacob, Susan, who married Peter Albert of Smithfield, Barbara,
wife of __ Shrauder, of Shawnee, and Mrs. Henry Strunk.
Philip and his family lived in Pocono township.
Mr. and Mrs. Elias Transue, first located in Northampton, moved to
Smithfield. Their family consisted of 9 children; Anthony, father of
Abram, John C., Abram, Jacob, Isaac, Margaret, wife of Jacob Yetter,
Barbara, wife Philip Shivery, Susan, wife of Michael Hotterstine, and
Polly, wife of William Fish.
Anthony, was born 1790 in Smithfield, he died in 1860. He married
Catherine Brutzman, d/o Jacob, who was one of the early settlers of
Warrren, NJ, coming from Montgomery County, PA. where he was born 1779.
Mrs. Transue passed away a few years after her husband'd death.
Children; Susan, wife of Valentine Transue, and they had (Abram, Alice,
and Ida); Frederick, born 1832, married Matilda Noack, and they had (
Philip, David, Jacob,Elizabeth, and Amanda); Henry, born 1834 married
1st to Elizabeth Moiser and 2nd to Fanny Garder of NJ, by whom he had
(Clyde and Edna); Jacob B., born 1837 married Eliza Place, and they had
(Irvin L.) Katie, born 1839, wife of Michael Walters,children (
Josephine and Irvin); Adam born 1842, married Margaret Kinney, children
(Edith); Hannah, born 1844, married Warren Dunblazer of Lackawanna Co.,
and she left one son (Woodward); Abram
Abram married in 1877 to Arminta Overfield, d/o Anamias and Katie
Overfield. Children; Edith born 1878, Elmer born 1881, and Ethel A.,
born 1887
Transue. Uriah, of Smithfield township, vet of the Civil war, born in
Shawnee, July 24, 1832, s/o Issac E., and Elizabeth (Titus) Transue, the
former, a native of Bucks Co, the latter of Warren Co. NJ
Elias, grandfather, his children; Anthony, of Smithfield, John, died in
Bradford county, Abram moved to Wyoming county, Jacob died in NJ.,
Lanor, wife of __ Kiper, of NY., Katie, wife of Joseph Price, and moved
to Ohio, Rachel wife of Jacob Yetter, of Middle Smithfield, Barbara,
married Philip Shively and died in Pocono, Susan married Michal
Hardenstein and died in Stroudsburg, Mary married William Fish, and died
in Bradford county.
Isaac, died in 1879. Children; Sarah the widow of Alfred Stephens, of
Luzerne Co. Jane, widow of Jeffery Tenner who died in the Civil war,
(Elizabeth, Hannah and Charles), Catharine, born 1830, married Benjamin
Cortwright of Warren Co., NJ, and they moved to Iowa., Uriah, Martin
born in 1834, married Harriet Chrstian (Caroline, wife of William
Snyder, of NJ., and Flora, wife of Myron Detrich of Monroe Co., Hannah
H., born 1838, married Charles Doll, and they had ( Harry, Anna, Katie,
Grant, Edward, Lizzie and Will. Ananias born 1840, Civil war vet,
married Sarah Walter (Walter, Charles, Magie and Alta) Aramilla, born
1842 maried George Merian, of NJ, children, ( Maggie, wife of J. Eliot
and George). The mother married 2nd to David Conklin, also of NJ., who
died in Stroudsburg, in 1890 leaving children; Lizzie, Roscoe, Martha
and Mabel. Findley born 1844, married Miss Dornbrazer, of Sus. County,
died leaving one son, Bradley, who married Francis Beers of Bradford Co.
Smith, Abraham, of Middle Smithfield, was born at Mt. Bethel,
Northampton Co., July 1829. His paternal great-grandfather came to
Holland bringing with him nine sons. One of these, William Smith married
Sarah Transue. Their daughter Betsey married Jacob Transue, and they
lived in NJ., where they died, leaving a large family.
Lehigh Co.
Abraham Transue, a French Huguenot, emigrated from Pfaltz in 1730,
locating in Montgomery Co., but on March 30, 1736 he took out a warrant
for 150 acres of land situated in Salisbury township. His wife Anna
Margaret, and they had these children, baptized as follows; (John)
Abraham, on June 25, 1731; Jacob, July 28, 1734; and Elizabeth, June 20,
1736; also a daughter, Anna Catharine, was was born in the Pfaltz, March
6, 1722. She was accompanied her parents to this country, and on Jan 1,
1741, married Sebastian Heinrich Knauss (1741-1777), a Moravian, with
whom she had 13 children.
Peter Transue, a descendant of Abraham, the pioneer, was born April 23,
1777, and came down from Saucon township to Allentown, where he lived
until his death in 1841. He is buried in the old Allentown cemetry. He
married Elizabeth Grube, of Saucon township. Children; Samuel, Jacob,
moved to Cleveland, Ohio, Charles, of Northampton, William, who died at
Tiffin, Ohi, Susanna, died unmarried at Phila., Mary, and Lydia, wife of
Stephen Ritter.
Samuel, son of Peter, was born Nov 14, 1817, died at Allentown, April
24, 1891. He married elemina Gabel, born 1830, d/o Daniel and Elizabeth.
She died 1868, aged 38y. They were members of the Reformed Church.
Children; Annie M., married William Zellner. Charles born 1855, married
Emma Diehl, Tilghman born 1860 and Edward D.
Edward D., was born Jan 11, 1863. In 1903 he married Bertha Trexler, d/o
Edwin and Carrie (Reimert) Trexler, of Allentown. Members of the Zion
Reformed Church.
