Altemose, Thomas, of Gilbert, Polk township, native of Ross township was
born May 9 1829, married June 24, 1855 to Christina Shupp, a native of
Polk, d/o Frederick and Susan (Dreisbach) Shupp, who spent their entire
lives in that county. Mrs. Altemose died leaving 3 children; James
married Anna Kresge, Emalinda married Daniel Richard and Ira E., of
Kansas City, MO. Mr. Altemose married 2nd to Sarah C. (Shupp) Kresge a
native of Luzerne Co and a dau of Charles and Elisabeth (Dreisbach)
Shupp. Children, Amas, at El Paso, Texas, Carrie w/o Dr. George F. Peck,
and Luella who died at age 10
Stone, Cyrenius, of Marshall Creek, Smithfield twp, is a native of
Phila., born July 1845, his grandfather was Jacob Stone, having been
born in the Fatherland. Jacob Stone came to America and settled in Bucks
Co. He and his wf had 17 children all of whom rearched adult age. He son
Aaorn was the father of Cyrenius Stone who was born in Bucks Co. He
later moved to NJ (Gloucester Co.) He was in the Civil war (4th NJ
After the Civil war he moved his family from NJ to Stroudsburg and then
to Stroud twp. He then moved to Ottawa, Kansas
Aaron Stone was married in Bucks Co to Mary Tyson, a native of
Montgomery Co. After the death of her husband she moved to Kansas till
1895 when she returned to Monroe Co. Of the 9 children born to this
union, Leonida was born in Bucks Co, married Sallie Parker of NJ and
they had (William and Annie), Cleopatra born in Phila. in 1848 w/o
Joseph Walters, and moved to Kansas., Asmarilda and Alexena (twins) born
in NJ came to Monroe Co where they married, Asmarilda w/o James
Platenberg of Stroud and they moved to Kansas, Alexana married John
Henry of Pocono and they had 7 children (Dolly, Laura, Annie, Mary,
Bennie and two names not given) Mildred M., married John Able and
settled in Kansas.
Cyrenius Stone was reared partly in NJ and partly in PA. In 1871 he
married Emma Mostetter, d/o William and Betsey. Mr. and Mrs Stone had
two sons, Howard born 1872 and Clarence born 1873
