Greetings all --
I found that my father made a spelling error in the family
Bible. Instead of looking HEUTHER, I should have been looking for
HUTHER, i.e., Mary Martha Huther (b. 9-26-1838, d. 5-10-1924 Milton)
wife of John L. Hulsizer (b. 11-30-1834, d. 7-18-1910 Milton), the first
"mayor" of Milton. They were married about 1859 and had three children:
Wm. F. in 1860, John J. in 1862, and my grandmother Ellen Elizabeth in
1866. Mary Martha Huther's parents were John Huther and Amanda Mary
Wagner, dates unknown. Can anyone help fill in the blanks?
Also, I've hit a deadend with my grandfather, Benjamin E. Lohman (b.
8-1861, d. 2-1944 Milton). I need siblings if they're out there! Not
sure if his parents were Franklin Harrison Lohman and Ida Amanda Kromer
or Harrison H. Lohman and Margaret H. Kromer. Benjamin's siblings would
help! Benjamin built the house at 400 Piper Avenue across from Harmony
Cemetery. Oral tradition has it that he was the custodian at the YMCA
and each day he put the "clinkers" from the coal furnace into his
wheelbarrow and carted them up the hill and filled in the lot. Then in
1900 he built the home that still stands there. Can anyone help?
Many thanks,
Ralph Lohman
