I have quite a few names/dates on surname Rothermal, mostly from the
Millersburg, Upper Paxton Township area, and Northumberland County...no
lines built:

Cecil J. Rothermel 1889-1956 married Sarah E. Witmer
Elizabeth Roghermel married Isaac W. Dreibelbis
Elmer Lee Rothermal married Elva Wirt, daughter of John Andrew Jackson Wirt
1882-1971, Urban, PA
Emma Rothermel b. 1867 married to John Saltzer
Marion E. Rothermal married Nelson Edward Wert on 16Jun1955, Dalmatia
Roxey Annabella Rothermel b. 1914 married Paul Albert Gessner in 1945
Sarah Rothermel married Daniel W. Radel
William W. Rothermel b. 1842 married Sarah A. Shaffer in 1865

Does anyone have any connections to these lines?

>I am a fellow Rothermal descendant; one of my g3gmothers was Catherine
>Rothermal, d/o Abraham D, s/o Peter H, s/o Peter Z, s/o Johannes C.
>Rotheraml - the immigrant father. The source I used was a publication

>Selected Northumberland County Pioneer Families - From the Arrival of
>the Immigrant Ancestors to the Present Time - Part Four - The Rothermal
>Family" (1978).

>According to Joe Meiser's book, your Abraham M Rothermal (1780-1843) was
>the s/o Abraham S (c1747-1780), s/o Johannes Z (1722-1785), s/o Johannes
>C (1688-1730) - the immigrant.

>All sources that I have seen track the Rothermals back to the village of

>written by a man named Abraham H Rothermal who had taken a trip to
>Europe and visited the village of Wachbach,. He told of his account in a

>Society. In it he says of the region around Wachbach:
>
>"Sectarian bitterness has died out and the descendants of those who once
>waged bloody wars in the name of religion live side by side in peace and
>good will, each apparently realizing that all have been journeying upon
>the same road, which, like all human highways, leads through the
>wilderness and now through the open fields and sunshine. While the
>descendants of John and Sybilla Rothermal may not regret that their

>will fail to appreciate the open-hearted hospitality of its people and
>their apparent freedom from all insincerity, falsehood, pride, and

>It is ironic that Mr. Rothermal wrote those words in 1911, on the eve of
