Hi Folks....
In the 1850 census of Northumberland Co., Shamokin Twsp., I found a
Jacob SHAFER, 70 yrs. old, born in Germany. In his household there is
a Rebecca RHOADS, age 30 (it could be 34), born in PA, with two small
children: Delila, age 6; Sarah, age 4. It could be that Rebecca is
the daughter of Jacob, maybe widowed.

The reason this particular Jacob caught my eye is because my
gg-grandfather, Daniel Shaffer, born 1814, married in Shamokin 13 May
1838 to Rebecca SEITZINGER. In the 1870 census of Caldwell County,
MO I found Daniel and he lists his father as foreign born.

I'm wondering if this Jacob could be the father of Daniel. Does
anyone have a Rhoads-Shaf(f)er connection that could possibly shed
some light on this?
