Subject: [PANORTHU-L] Govt Agency Search
Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2001 15:36:42 -0600
I am at a point in my family research where I would like to identify a government agency resource that I can communicate with to obtain additional information on my grandfather's history. My grandfather was a resident of Mount Carmel.
Hopefully several listers may have had some experience in this area and can give me some direction.
On the SSA's SS-5 Form there is a line item that asks for an applicant's registration card number if the applicant has registerd with the US Employment Service (USES). My grandfather had registered and his number is noted on the form.
I would like to pursue in this direction. I contacted the SSA and they refered me to the Dept of Labor. They responded that they do not have these records.
Accordingly, has anyone had any experience in acquiring information from the US Employment Service? If so, what current agency has these records and how can they be obtained?
Any help or direction will be appreciated.
Vince, Plano, TX
