Frederick "Fritz" Reed is indeed a gentleman and one of the most helpful county
officials, I have ever met. On my infrequent visits to the Northumberland
Courthouse in Sunbury, PA, I always went to the Office of the Recorder of Deeds
(Mr. Reed held this office) first. He knew the County system very well and
would often stop what he was doing even though he had plenty of clerks working
for him to answer questions. He often went the second mile and sometimes
further. For instance this silver haired gentleman would often go down in the
"catacombs" in the basement of the courthouse to get whatever dusty old books
you were seeking, bring them back up, and make copies for you himself.
He was a joy to deal with. He will be missed. I hope that his spirit of
cooperation has been passed on to his successor and will live on in this office.
