Commander Kiefer

Services and burial for Commander Eugene Kiefer, 17 Curtis Road, were in
Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. on Friday. A retired U. S.
Navy commander and associate professor of mathematics at Villanova University,
he died September 26 at home.

Commander Kiefer was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis,
Md. in 1920, and joined the Villanova faculty in 1948. He received his
masters degree there in 1959. He was captain of the USS Patoka during
World War II.

Surviving are his widow, the former Lisa Ganahl; three daughters, Mrs.
T. A. Wodark of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Charles Boley of Franklin, N.C. and
Mrs. Denis Kohl of Ann Arbor, Mich. Also two sisters and ten grandchildren.

[Note: Eugene Kiefer was born in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania
on 12 April 1898 to James Donald Kiefer and Johanna Snyder Kehler. CB]
