Looking for any information on the DURKIN Family. My paternal great
grandfather was Edward DURKIN who married Mary MALEA (MALEY, etc.) in
Lowell, Massachusetts, USA on 15 SEPT 1847.

The Certificate of marriage shows the following:

Groom - Edward DURKIN, residence - Lowell, age 31 (born 1816?), color -
white, occupation - masom, father - John DURKIN, mother - Sarah ???

Bride - Mary MALEA, residence - Lowell, age 22 (born 1825?), color
white, occupation - operative, father - John Malea, mother - Bridget ???

It is believed that Edward and Mary were born in Ireland - possibly in
Mayo or Sligo. It is not known if their parents came to the U.S.

They had one daughter Mary Ann who was born in Lowell.

Edward and Mary moved to Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania,
and had a son Martin C. DURKIN (my grandfather) who was born on 6 DEC
1853 in the Shamokin area. There was at least one other child - Sarah
DURKIN-KANE who was also born in Shamokin.

Any help that you can provide - census records, family histories,
naturalization papers, passenger lists, etc. would be most appreciated.
