Message Board Post:
I desperately need to locate a marriage certificate from 1881. I noticed the main page says that the court house marriage certificates start at 1885. I know the exact date of the marriage. I want the marriage certificate because I think it may be my only hopes of finding the names of my gg-grandfather's parents.
The marriage that I am interested in took place on April 30, 1881 between Michael C Bradley and Maria Toban (tobin?) in St. Edward's church, shamokin. I contacted the dioceses, but they have no record of Michael's parents (but they were helpful in providing the exact date of the marriage).
Were marriage certificates issued in 1881? If so, was it at the courthouse, or was it in the town itself? If in the town itself, are those records available anywhere?
Any help or assistance with this would be greatly, greatly appreicated.
Thanks so much,
Brian Santell
