Shari,
I have a good bit of info on the McCreary's of Northumberland (then
Lancaster/Chester). I descend from John, b. 1710 d.1777. He was married to
Mary Frazier. They had the following sons: Joseph b. 1732, John b. 1733,
Samuel b. 1739. The John b. 1733 married Rebecca Clark and had these
sons: John b. 1764, Joseph Britain b. 1766, there are several more
generations that I have documented. If any of this sounds like your line,
feel free to contact me for more information. There are Johns, Josephs and
Samuels throughout. I have some of Marjorie MacCreary's workbook. When
looking for info on this particular surname, you've got to be diligent in
checking alternate spellings. I have found often it is M'Creary, McCreery,
McCrery and McCleary.
Good luck in your search.
/Cindy McCreary

had a son named Joseph William McCreary that married Minnie Cearfoss
